Our Staff

The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

Jeffrey Medoff, MD

Dr. Medoff grew up just outside of New York City, the son of a Swiss sculptor and a Brooklyn physician, with his older sister (now a consultant in Emergency Preparedness) and younger brother (now an Emergency physician in San Francisco). He attended Middlebury College in Vermont to pursue a double major in art history and biology, where he also enjoyed skiing and fly fishing.

Dr. Medoff began his southern migration with a return to New York City and graduated from New York Medical College. Together with his 10th grade sweetheart and wife, Debi, they came to Duke where Dr. Medoff completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine. A research fellowship in Gastroenterology followed, funded by a Young Investigator Award from the National Institute of Health, in which he focused on colon cancer research. In 1986, he left the Duke medical faculty and joined the LeBauer practice in Greensboro. Thirteen years later after the LeBauer practice was sold to Moses Cone Hospital, Dr. Medoff began his independent consulting practice specializing in gastroenterology.

Because of Dr. Medoff's love of medicine and compassion for his patients he is in constant pursuit of cutting-edge medical techniques The most recent medical advancement added to his practice is a Hemorrhoid Banding treatment for patients looking for a less invasive but successful treatment. He also opened Medoff Metabolics after hearing the frustration from his patients with weight-related medical problems.

When he is not 'doctoring', Dr. Medoff devotes his time to his wife, his six children and their spouses plus four grandchildren. He also tries mastering the banjo an instrument that keeps him humble and in tune with life.
